The Wonderful Masterpiece of a British Artist on Swan Feathers

Ian Davey an artist who has found a normal and maintainable canvas to paint his masterpieces on – swan feathers. Right now his light mechanism sells for thousands of dollars.

Every individual piece of art can take up to a week to complete, but Ian Davey’s feather paintings in fact something extraordinary to look at.

Ian Davey who is 46 years old has been put in a converted farmhouse in Snowdonia National Park, Wales. He paints on swan feathers which are collected from a close by swannery. He uses only those feathers that naturally drop on the ground during the birds’ annual flaking period. He starts the artistic process by cleaning and individually straightening them with tweezers and constantly depicts a sketch of what he means to paint on the feather, since he only has a one-foot-long, three-inches-wide print to work with so he has to know accurately what goes where. He applies a basic coverage and works with a particular acrylic paint that guards the feather. To secure the most detailed parts, this unique artist uses an expert 000-size brush.
